Real estate market charts – a.k.a. AltosCharts – is one of the very first features we launched, nearly 4 years ago.  They are among our most widely used and popular features.  However, we figured it was time to cook up the next generation of data visualization tools – resulting in today’s release of Altos FlashCharts.

Chicago, IL – Single Family Properties – DOM vs. Price:

Altos subscribers will find their new Flash Charts by logging in, and selecting ‘My WebTools -> My Widets’. If you’re going to try and use our Flash Charts on a WordPress blog (like I did in the example above) you’ll need to use a plugin like Kimli’s Flash Embed Plugin. Enjoy!

I have a wordpress.com blog and I’ve downloaded the Kimili plug-in but when I went to wordpress support for information on how to install it, I found the following message. Does that mean I won’t be able to use the flash charts on my blog?

http://support.wordpress.com/plugins/
Plugins are tools used to extend the functionality of the WordPress platform. However, they are only applicable to privately-hosted blogs and web sites using the WordPress.org software. Plugins are not permitted on WordPress.com for various security reasons.

Bob-

Quite possibly. Wordpress.com (the hosting company) severely restricts their configuration of WordPress (the blogging software) in that they do not allow individual users to install WP Plugins.

If Wordpress.com offers the ability to search for installable plugins, try doing a search for ‘Kimli’ or ‘swf’. It may be the case that Wordpress.com will allow you to install it from their list of ‘trusted’ WP Plugins.

Unfortunately, you get what you pay for at Wordpress.com. Reply here if you’re able to find the plugin in the Wordpress.com plugin repository.

Jason,
I love these new graphs and want to use them. I downloaded and installed the Kimili plugin and pasted the HTML code for a flash chart into a page, however I cannot get the graph to load. I spoke to Kris who made some suggestions, but nothing has helped. My site is being hosted on Bluehost.

I am not sure if I should do anything with Kimili before pasting the code into the post or page – any help you could give me would be great – want to get these up and going!

Awesome job, Jason!

I’m working on a real estate WP plugin that will be release publicly soon, and I already incorporated free AltosCharts into it via GET method. I also looked at the flash object code you have used for this example and it works on my WP test site as is… it looks like it will work just fine via GET method as well, but I wonder if I wouldn’t be crossing any “lines” here by doing this?

Please let me know!
Thanks!

Hi Max – that’s cool work you’re doing there! I’ll give you a buzz so we can make sure you get some goodies but also the features designed for our paying subscribers aren’t usurped.
