It’s easy to get fixated on today’s housing prices and today’s active inventory.  But, it’s a healthy exercise going into the new year to do some year-over-year comparisons of our most leading indicators to get some longer term perspective.  A look at both the Price of New Listings (black line, left axis) and Active Inventory (orange line, right axis) in this light:
